![]() Polaroid had the ingenious idea of building a battery pack into each film pack so you never had to worry about the batteries suddenly dying. This modification will pretty much destroy your cameras ability to shoot regular Polaroid Spectra or Impossible Project Image film, so there is no turning back! Also, your camera will no longer be an instant camera! You will have to develop and print (or scan) the images yourself. In this Instructable, we will convert a Polaroid Spectra to operate with regular sheet film. What is the cheapskate hipster to do? Well here is one idea. For example, Spectra film use to be $1 an exposure but is now $2 and exposure in most markets and will only increase as the supply dwindles.Ī project to restart production called, "the Impossible Project" (the "p" on impossible is backward for some hip and trendy reason) is restarting production of integral and other Polaroid films, however the cost is still in the $2 to $3 per exposure range. They have stopped making all integral film and the price of the last stocks of fresh film is skyrocketing in price. I understand the hard business facts behind this move, but as someone who bought the camera, I feel a little cheated. Two of mine had the old batteries left in (one set was even Polaroid branded) but fortunately neither had leaked at all.Lets face it.Polaroid has mostly abandoned its commitment to analog instant photography. The one thing you may want to do is verify the AA battery holder inside the handle isn't missing and that it doesn't have corrosion. ![]() All four of mine were untested and worked fine without any issues. These cameras were built to last, so I wouldn't worry about having to buy one that's been tested. Keep in mind it's a big camera too, you'll probably be paying another $15-$25 in shipping on top of that, unless you find one locally. So, I would keep an eye out for one under $50, it's not hard to find them in that range. In 2020, I managed to pick up two more for $10-$15 each in other Goodwill auctions. Then I bought another one a few months later for a little over $30 on a Goodwill auction. You should be able to find a working one in good condition for much cheaper than that if you're patient.įor some perspective, I bought one on eBay in early 2019, before the format was discontinued, for $55. Looking on eBay, I see some people are still listing them for $100 or more even though Spectra has been out of production for nearly 3 years now. The prices can vary by quite a bit depending on where you're looking, the condition, and if it comes with the carrying case. ![]() You may need a charger as well Litelong 10440 3.2V AAA LiFePO4 Rechargeable Batteries Charger New ģ| 1x pairs of Spring Battery Contact Plate Replacement For AA AAA Batteries Ĥ| electric wire (u can find this everywhere except the moon)ĥ| electric soldering iron (ask your dad or )ħ| A film spring (you can easily remove it from a 600/itype cassette but be careful the edge is very sharp) but don't use 3.7v batteries to instead, they will kill your camera.
